Rafael Nodal and his spouse Alina were travelling to Spain in 2004 when Nodal was intrigued with a technique of aging wine referred to as Solera. This entails melding vintages of wine together, and the end result is a mixture of wines of different ages. Nodal couldn’t wait to apply this unique aging process to premium cigars. Using different vintage Dominican Cuban-seed tobaccos chosen from various stages in the aging process, then rolled in a sun-kissed Dominican wrapper, the result is a full-bodied, yet seductively smooth smoke with non-stop flavor from beginning to nub.
