Plasencia Cigars

Plasencia Cigars is one of the largest tobacco farmers and cigar producers in the world! Nick’s Cigar World carries 30 of their cigars in stores and online, including cigars that are no longer in production.

The Plasencia brand has a presence in over 80 countries. Plasencia Cigars is a family-owned company that focuses on initiatives for sustainability and childhood development centers. They are the only company in the tobacco industry to produce certified organic tobacco.

The company began in 1865 when Don Plasencia left the Canary Islands for Cuba to begin growing tobacco. Don grew the business with help from his family and opened the Corojal farm in Cuba in 1920. In 1963, due to political turmoil, the Plasencia family relocated first to Mexico, and then to Nicaragua where they began growing tobacco again from scratch. In 1978, political turmoil once again forced the family to relocate to Honduras where they started over one final time…

In 1987, Nestor Plasencia joined the family business and tobacco industry. In 1990, the family moved back to Nicaragua and began operations there, with production continuing in Honduras. In 2000, Plasencia managed to create the only OCIA-certified organic cigar with the Plasencia Reserva Orginal line. Over the past two decades, the Plasencia brand has continued to flourish, with multiple factories across Nicaragua and Honduras. In 2015, Plasencia became the world’s largest tobacco farmer for premium cigars.

In 2017, the family’s own brand, Plasencia Cigars, was born. The launch introduced the Reserva Original, Cosecha 146, and Alma series.
